Pahanyaila: Office of Public Pprosecutor presented no new information about Zaharanka
The Prosecutor’s response about the fate of Ullyana Zaharanka’s son, former Minister of Internal Affairs Yury Zaharanka, contained no new information. A human rights activist Harry Pahanyaila has informed ERB about it. Let us remind you that according to the reply of the deputy Attorney General Victar Konan, investigators do not exclude the political version of Yury Zaharanka’s disappearance.
Pahanyaila: "The version has been present in the official correspondence of investigators for a long time – the political version is being checked. However, it is not informed what investigative actions have been conducted and what the investigators’ conclusions are. No information about the results of the investigation has been presented for more than 10 years. Neither the public, nor relatives have received it”.
In the human rights activist’s opinion, the authorities will most likely try to delay the investigation of Yury Zaharanka’s case to reach the time limitation. It will happen 15 years since the abduction that occurred on May 7, 1999. Thus, the investigation of Zaharanka’s case may be prolonged for four years.
