Over 3000 workers on forced leaves in Minsk region

Enterprises in the Minsk region send workers on leaves and cut working hours, officials at the Minsk Region Executive Committee told Respulika newspaper.  In early March, 4900 people worked on reduced-hours shifts, while 34000 workers were sent on forced leaves with partial wages. According to officials, enterprises are thus trying to overcome the consequences of the crisis in order to save jobs.

The unemployment rate in Minsk has grown up 23 percent and reached nearly 4700 people since early this year. The number of available jobs has dropped by 17 percent down to 14500.
