Opposition activists plan to stage the Solidarity March on May 1 in Minsk, the chairman of the Movement for Freedom Yuras Hubarevich told reporters on April 18.

The application for the action is signed by the deputy chairman of Belarusian Democratic Trade Unions Congress Siarhei Antusevich. People are expected to gather at 1600 near the National Academy of Sciences and proceed along Surhanava street to the People's Friendship Park.

United Civil Party chairman Anatol Lyabedzka says the organizers have made a compromise by agreeing to take the unpopular route away from the city center.
