Only one out of five Belarusians keeps money in banks

Every fifth Belarusian is going to keep money in banks in 2009. A survey conducted by an analytical centre EcooM testifies to it.
According to the survey, 13.9% of respondents would like to spend their savings on furniture and household appliances, 13.3% - on vacations, 6.9% - on immovable property, 4.6% - on a new car and 9.1% - on investments in their own business. 14.4% of citizens are going to keep their savings and 18.4% are going to deposit them.

11.5% of people answered that they kept all their money in banks replying to the question “Where do you keep your savings?”. 31.7% of respondents keep half of their money at home and the other half – in banks. Nevertheless, 16.7% of citizens to not trust banks and 37.4% of citizens who took part in the survey confessed that they had no savings at all.
