No permission yet for Freedom Day rally

The authorities in Minsk have not yet issued a formal permission to stage a street rally on Freedom Day -- March 25 in order to celebrate 91 years since the declaration of independence of the Belarusian People's Republic. According to Belarusian Popular Front leader Liavon Barscheuski, 37 days have passed since the organizers filed an application for the rally with Minsk City Hall. The organizers note that the absence of the permission slows down their campaign to inform the population about the action.

Belapan news agency reminds that the organizers urge members of the public to come to the building of the Academy of Sciences at 1800 on March 25 and then proceed to October Square in downtown Minsk.
