New British PM Gordon Brown to make key cabinet appointments

Great Britain's Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday appointed Gordon Brown as the country's new prime minister. Brown has taken over from Tony Blair who headed the British cabinet for the past ten years. Gordon Brown was also part of Blair's cabinet, taking the post of the finance minister.

Gordon Brown became the 11th British prime minister after the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953.

He is to make key cabinet appointment on Thursday June 28.
