National Library to showcase Slutsk Gospel

The National Library of Belarus will on February 28 open an exposition titled "An Enlighter from Astrozhski Family" and will simultaneously launch the electronic edition of the Slutsk Gospel: A Belarusian Masterpiece of the 16th Century.
The functions are timed to mark the 400th anniversary since the death of Duke Kanstantsin Astrozhski. The exposition will also display rare editions of the late 19th-early 20th centuries devoted to the history of the Astrozhskis, the ancient books from the 16th-18th centuries, including the Astrozhski's Bible dated back to 1581. This was the first full Bible translation into the old Slavic language.

The Slutsk Gospel will also be showcased through March 15. The book was believed to go missing during the World War II, but it was eventually found in 2003, reports Belta.
