MPs refuse to back entrepreneurs

The permanent commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus told Perspektiva, the public association of entrepreneurs, that it was not to approach the Constitutional Court seeking court's judgement on the president's decree № 760. The parliamentary commission said in a letter to the Perspektiva's chairman Anatol Shumchanka that the decree was in line with the Constitution of Belarus, so there was no need to seek judgement from the Constitutional Court.

Entrepreneurs asked MPs to act on April 6 when the chairman of the Constitutional Court, Rygor Vasilevich said that they could appeal the president's decree in a court.

The decree bans private entrepreneurs from hiring employees besides the members of their families or relatives. The regulation will become effective on January 1, 2008.

The number of hired emploees will remain restricted to three people.
