Minsk's demolished house owners offered plots for building new homes
Alyaksandr Lukashenka
has, by his presidential edict, ordered the Minsk
city government to provide to the owners of houses slated for demolition with
the right to choose a land plot in any populated locality of Belarus for
housing construction.
Under the edict, signed on May 5, before seizing the land plot on which a condemned house stands, the Minsk City Executive Committee must offer the owner of the house the opportunity to exercise his right to acquire a land plot out of turn and without auction, and pay financial compensation provided for by a February 2, 2009 presidential edict, said press office of the Belarusian leader.
