Milinkevich: Opposition "should vary" when evaluating government

The opposition "should vary" when evaluating the actions of the authorities, Alexander Milinkevich, the leader of the For Freedom movement said at a news conference on May 8 in Minsk. He reckons that not every decision of the government should be criticized. For instance, if the goverment asks Europe to reduce visa costs, the opposition should show support, reports Belapan.

At the same time, Milinkevich stressed there should be no illussions about the current authorities. The government will not make Belarus democratic on its own, but it will be forced to do so under pressure from the European Union and the domestic opposition, believes Milinkevich.

Since it is now difficult for the opposition to produce an impact on the economic situation in Belarus because it is not represented in the government, the politician has proposed to develop projects in the fields like civil society, culture and education.
