Medvedev drifts away from Putin: The Financial Times

Yesterday's meeting of Russian president Dmitry Medvedev with Novaya Gazeta's editor-in-chief Dmitry Muratov and former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev shows that Medvedev plans to purse a course which is more independent from Vladimir Putin, writes the British newspaper The Financial Times.  The meeting took place when Putin was in Davos, Switzerland attending the World Economic Forum. Medvedev condemned the recent murder of prominent lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova who were killed by a gunman in Moscow, writes gazeta.ru
