On August 9, president of Belarus Alyaksandar Lukashenka (Alexander Lukashenko) shared at the polling station his vision on youth and its attitude to authorities. If earlier he admitted that the government 'lost' young people this time he added that only a part of youth was 'lost' as "there are different kinds of young people".

Lukashenka suggested re-educating some of the Belarusian youngsters in the Belarusian fields.

He mentioned as a positive example young combine drivers who "have soil under fingernails" as "they harvest grain for us today". At the same time others "are sipping... beer here in Minsk"

"And then we are talking here about some democracy, about the detention of some [trusted person of the presidential candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya] Maroz, or other things," Lukashenka added.
