Lukashenka sacks high-ranking law-enforcement officials

A number of high-ranking law-enforcement officials will be fired from the force in November, Alexander Lukashenka said today during a meeting on anti-corruption measures.
According to Lukashenka, 10 high-ranking officials at the Interior Ministry deliberately violated the law in order to obtain land plots in the lucrative suburbs of Minsk. The list of those officials includes former first deputy minister Alexandr Shchurko, deputy Interior minister Viktar Filistovich, former deputies Radzyukevich and Hlukhouski, director of financial and rear department Melnikau, director of citizenship and migration department Ivanchykau, former director of department of corrections Kouchur, former aide to the Interior Minister Karpeichyk, police hospital doctor Burko and Novik, an officer from the Minsk City Police Department.

The president said that those officials picked land plots on territory of a childcare's summer house in the water protection zone. Disguised as dachas, two- and three-storey villas were built by them through the office abuse and manipulations with the laws. They obtained the plots almost for free having paid only Br10,000 or Br25,000 ($10).

Former owmers have to demolish the building in the course of three months. Otherwise, the houses will be confiscated for the sake of orphans.
