Less Belarusians visit Lithuania

The number of Belarusian citizens that have visited neighboring Lithuania may have dropped by 40 percent by the end of 2008 against the samer period in 2007, Belarus' Ambassador in Vilnius Uladzimir Drazhyn said in an interview with the Russian news agency Prime Tass. The diplomat noted that Belarusian made over 500,000 trips to Lithuania in 2007.

In the view of the ambassador, higher costs of the Lithuanian visas for Belarus nationals is the main reason behind the drop, reports news agency DELFI.

Earlier reports suggested that Belarusians also reduced their travel to Poland due to high visa costs.
