Language group pushes for street to be named after Belarus writer

On August 13, the Minsk-based Belarusian Language Society launched a campaign to collect signatures, proposing to rename one of streets in Minsk after Janka Bryl, a reknown Belarusian writer, and to unveil a memorial sign on the house he used to live in. The group chairman Aleg Trusaw said they planned to gather up to 10,000 signatures and send them directly to Minsk Mayor Mikhail Pawlaw. "The Minsk city hall will be forced to respond to citizens within one month, under the lawes," Mr Trusaw stressed to Belapan.
