It has not been decided whether Pope Francis will visit Belarus, archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, head of the Belarusian Catholic Church, said.

"I have had a lot of chances to meet the Pope this year,” Kondrusiewicz told STV. “I spent October in Rome because the Synod of Bishops was held there. I was accommodated in the Pope’s house and we often met at lunch and dinner… We sometimes walked together since the Pope always walks to the Synod Hall. We talked about it. He even told me: “The President has invited me.” I am hoping. The decision has not been made yet but it was clear that he would be glad to come.”

The Belarusian government is thinking about the pontiff’s visit, Kondrusiewicz believes.
