Kalyakin: 40% of electors voted in some election centers

The percent of people taking part in the early voting will be record this year. A coordinator of the “For Fair Election” campaign Syarhei Kalyakin has claimed it. 7.2% of electors voted in the first days. It is 1.2 times more than during the previous election, says Kalyakin. Kalyakin: "If the rate is preserved, we will set an early voting record – about 38 or 40%. We can see that we are heading for it. The government has set such a goal. Of course, the early voting isn’t happening on its own. The state machine is in full operation and it is making electors vote early”.

Students, soldiers, policemen and employees of state institutions as well as creative collectives are voting now. According to the campaign, Minsk election centre #53 has set a record – it is the hostel of the Pedagogic University. 2650 voting papers have been given out there. There are about 2400 electors in the centre, says Kalyakin. 1180 people voted in the last two days. It is almost 50% in two days.

A teacher brought a group of students to centre #19 in Minsk Lenin District. He ticked those who voted and those who didn’t on a special list. When the campaign’s observer took a picture of the list, all students fled, says Kalyakin.
