The Kalevala translated into Belarusian in Minsk

У Мінску прадставілі пераклад на беларускую мову фінскага эпасу "Калевала"

The Belarusian translation of the famous Finnish epic The Kalevala was presented at the National Library in Minsk on December 10. This is the national epic of the Finnish people based on Karelian and Finnish oral folklore. The Kalevala was first published in 1835. The Finnish epic is translated into 61 languages including Belarusian.

 

Minister of Culture Barys Svyatlou attended the presentation of The Kalevala in Belarusian. This is an important even for the Belarusian culture, the official said. He thanked translators Yakub Lapatka and Zmitser Kolas (owner of a private publishing house of the same name) for their work, BelaPAN reports.
