Journalist Barys Haretski accused of participation in December 19 action

His case is being considered in the Maskouski district court of Minsk on January 18, BelaPAN reports.

Haretski was detained at about 12.00 on January 17 near the KGB building in Minsk. He was interviewing the relatives of the people arrested on December 19-20, who came to the KGB detention center in order to pass their close people the parcels. The KGB representative said that the journalist was detained "for a prophylactic conversation". 

The journalist has been delivered to the Maskouski district court of Minsk today. The case is considerd by the judge Jauhen Khatkevich. 
Haretski has spent the night in the Maskouski district administration of internal affairs. He managed to inform the journalists about this before the court trial started. His lawyer Liudmila Kazak has filed a claim to the court that she needs to talk to her client in order to agree on the defense line, as she has had no opportunity to see him. The judge has agreed and announced a break.
