Investigation Committee refuses to close Ales Mihalevich’s case

Investigator D.Kupka has declined Ales Mihalevich’s request to close his criminal case. The politician applied for it on his return to Belarus, nn.by reports.

The political emigrant returned home on September 8 (after the release of Belarusian political prisoners). Mihalevich is the only person whose ‘December 19, 2010 mass riots’ case has not been closed so far.

Ales Mihalevich was released on recognizance from KGB prison in February 2011. He claimed that he had been tortured in prison and had been forced to cooperate with the special services. Then he fled from Belarus and received political asylum in the Czech Republic.
