Invalids try to get to president

Wheel-chair invalids staged a picket in Minsk on Saturday. Around 100 people, including 70 wheel-chair invalids, gathered at the Bangalore Square in order to stage what they called a public discussion of the pending problems. The picket was authorized by the city authorities.

The participants complained about the lack of environment necessary for invalids for worthy life and discrimination in many spheres of life. They also protested against a legislation that is being drafted and aimed to abolish social benfits for invalids.

A resolution, outlining the problems and calling to address them, was passed at the end.

Part of the invalids present at the picket decided to roll to the building of the Office of the President in order to hand down their petition directly to the head of the state.

Police attempted to stop the action participants, yet some of the invalids managed to break through almost the presidential headquarters' building.
