Information ministry reports drop in Belarusian-language books
Belarus's Ministry of Information has reported a drop in the number of books published in the Belarusian language. In 2008, 1,230,000 copies were printed in Belarusian out of a total printrun of almost 27 million, reports Belta. Belarus's deputy information minister Lidziya Ananich maintains that there is a slight increase compared to the previous year, but it is a weak consolation.
