Independent republic declared in Donesk (video)
The separatists who have seized the Donetsk regional council building proclaim independence of 'Donetsk People's Republic'.
The decision was made at a session of the self-declared ‘people’s council’ of Donetsk Oblast, censor.net.ua reports.
The independence of Donetsk Republic was declared, the speaker announced. The crowd supported the statement by a great ovation and shouts ‘Russia, Russia’. The decision was made at a special session, the speaker added.
‘The people’s council’ made one more decision afterwards – to join Russia.
The separatists tried to adopt their resolution at a legitimate session of the regional council. However, deputies did not gather and were ‘deprived’ of their mandates and ‘the people’s regional council’ was created.
Donetsk Oblast flag was removed from the flagstaff of the regional council and replaced with the flag of ‘Donetsk Republic’.
