IMF may condition loan on reform

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) may condition a $2-billion loan requested by Belarus on political reform, economist Mikhail Zaleski told Belorusskiye Novosti.

Zaleski noted that the IMF may offer $1 billion and condition another portion of the loan on political concessions for the West.

He noted that the IMF may reduce the amount of the loan because the country's economy is not in a bad shape.
