Hrodna resident fined for insulting driving inspector on Internet

The 22-year-old resident of Hrodna "wrote some insulting comments about the head of the group responsible for the driving test Viktar Loika". The text on the Internet insulted the man and made him look awkward in his colleagues’ eyes. The inspector lodged a complained with Minsk's Kastrychnitski District Court which found the young man guilty.

He was fined Br4 million (Euro 330). He will also have to pay another million to Loika to compensate for moral damages.

The case of playwright Andrei Karelin recently grabbed media and public attention after he was accused of insulting a police officer on the Internet and eventualy given a Br7 million fine.
