Housing and utilities officials explain high payments by weather conditions

Чыноўнікі ЖКГ тлумачаць павышэнне "камуналкі" ўмовамі надвор'я

The increase of the utility payments by 50% and more in January can be explained by cold weather, head of the housing department of the Ministry of Housing and Utilities Andrei Ramashka said on ONT.

The bills received by Belarusians last week caused a lot of complaints: in some cases the payments increased twice or more. It can be explained by the fact that January was colder than December, Ramashka said. The heating payments incased accordingly.

The other payments have not increased much, the official said.

Ramashka: “Some services have gone up by 5%, others – by 30%. The water supplies now cost 3.5-4 times more. However, water is not the biggest part of utility payments.”
