House of Representatives to consider changes to Law on Mass Media on April 19

The House of Representatives of the Belarusian National Assembly will consider changes to the Law on Mass Media after the first reading on April 19, head of the human rights and mass media commission Andrei Navumovich told Euroradio. A special commission will consider the suggestions made by the Belarusian Association of Journalists and MP Hanna Kanapatskaya after the first reading, he said.

Amendments to the Law on Mass Media were made public at the beginning of April. “They were requested by the Belarusian public”, Minister of Information Alyaksandr Karlyukevich said. The innovations include the obligatory identification of all persons posting materials on websites or commenting on publications.
