Alexander Lukashenka was ruled off ice to serve a two-minute penalty for the first time during the Christmas tournament match between Belarus and the United Arab Emirates in Chyzhouka Arena in Minsk. The Number 1 player infringed the rules in the third period when he grabbed a rival as if it were free style wrestling. The UAE hockey player fell down and the president collapsed on him.

Lukashenka accepted his penalty point with humour. Nasha Niva uploaded a video of the curious incident noting that Belarus 5 did not show the replay.

Belarus won the match 12-7 and Lukashenka scored a hat-trick.
