Hleb to miss World Cup qualifiers

Belarus captain Aleksandr Hleb has been ruled out of their final two World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and England with a thigh injury, the country's Football Federation said.

England has secured a place in next year's finals in South Africa while Belarus and Kazakhstan have been eliminated.

Mikalay Shpileuski, Hleb's manager, said that the midfielder is recovering but will not be able play with the national squad in the next two games. "Mr. Stange [the Belarus coach] was here and talked to VfB Stutgart managers. His condition was thoroughly analyzed," Shpileuski told ERB.

Belarus plays Kazakhstan in Brest on October 15 and England in London on October 14.
