Head of Homel affiliate of BSDP (H) excluded from party

A decision to exclude the head of Homel affiliate of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Hramada) Yury Noviaku from the party was taken at the meeting of the party’s presidium on June 20. The deputy head of social democrats Anatol Layukovich noted that the reason for it was systematic and deliberate resistance to decisions of the Central Committee and Presidium of the party concerning the Congress of Democratic Forces 2007.

Yury Novikau does not recognize the decision of the presidium because it is violating the statute of the party. He is going to appeal the decision in the Ministry of Justice. A meeting of the regional committee where the decision of the presidium will be discussed will take place soon.

By the way, an appeal of Mahileu regional heads of the United Civil Party and the Communist Party Uladzimir Shantsau and Valery Berazienka asking the administration of social democrats to consider the issue of behaviour of Yury Novikau was received by the Presidium of BSDP (H) on June 18.

The authors of the appeal expressed distrust to Novikau and considered his behaviour during the work of the regional coalition of Mahileu District to be aimed at the split of the coalition. They demand that the administration of Homel affiliate of BSDP (H) should take appropriate measures.

Yuryi Novіkau said that he was working for the good of the coalition and that it was Minsk administration that was pushing the party to a split.
