Government plans to unite Belarus air companies under Belavia brand?

The government is expected within a month to take a decision regarding the merger of three Belarusian air companies into one large national airline. The measure is planned to reduce expenditures of air carriers. In the conditions of the crisis and competition, this will boost the development of the aviation industry in the country, writes the e-newspaper Ezhednevnik.
There is a total of three companies operating in Belarus: Transaviaexport, Gomelavia and Belavia. Under the proposal, the three companies will merge under the Belavia brand.

However, the director of Transaviaexport objects to becoming an annex to Belavia. Transaviaexport specializes in cargo and has a positive reputation.

Belavia does not rush to merge with a cargo flying company, either.
