Fresh detentions of opposition activists ahead of European March

The authorities today continued a crack down on the opposition ahead of the European March, scheduled to take place on October 14 in Minsk. In Mazyr (Homel region), Pavel Nazdro, the local coordinator for the Belarusian Christian Democracy, on Friday appeared in court on minor hooliganizm charges. He was sentenced to three days of arrest, reports Belapan.

In Minsk, youth activists Mikita Sasim and Pavel Yukhnevich were also tried on minor hooliganizm charges. Sasim received five days of arrest, while Yukhnevich will be locked for seven days.
