Freestyle skier Ramanouskaya sells gold medal to help repressed athletes

Belarusian freestyler Alyaksandra Ramanouskaya has sold her gold medal, TUT.by reports. She won it at the 2019 Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. The final price of the lot on the Internet auction was $ 15 thousand (starting price - $ 900). The money received for the medal will be donated by Ramanouskaya to the Belarusian Sports Solidarity Fund to support athletes who have suffered for expressing their civic position.
At the aforementioned Universiade, the freestyler won two gold medals - in jumps and in team acrobatics.
In the fall of 2020, the world freestyle champion, athlete of 2019 in Belarus, Alyaksandra Ramanouskaya, was fired from the national team. This was an obvious reaction to the expression of civil position. She criticized the violence of the security forces and demanded new presidential elections.
