Football: BATE into UEFA Europa League knockouts

BATE Borisov have eventually made it into the UEFA Europa League knockout phase! On 13 December, the Belarusian reigning champions defeated PAOK away 3-1 in the last group stage match. In the first leg at home at the Borisov Arena on 4 October, the Greek side overcame Aliaksei Baga's men 4-1. Today, BATE started confidently and had scored three goals by the half time. Maksim Skavysh opened the scoring after 17 minutes, and Mikalai Signevich added two more on 42th and 45th minutes. 

In the second half, the hosts pulled one back. After Signevich was shown a red card, the Borisov side only had to defend but managed to defend their lead.

In another last Group L match, Vidi drew with Chelease 2-2. The London club finished the group stage top of Group L with 16 points, followed by BATE with 9, Vidi - 7, PAOK -3.

The knockout phase draw will take place on 17 December.
