Finberg: "No contender had a right image for Eurovision"

The jury is disappointed with the choice of the Eurofest winner. The members of the jury confessed to the European Radio for Belarus that Ruslan Alyakhno (the winner) did not get the right notes, while no contender had a song that would be good enough for the Eurovision contest.

Experts yesterday picked the winner out of four short-listed finalists who will represent Belarus at the Eurovision'2008 song contest. The European Radio for Belarus has learned that Ruslan Alyakhno has defeated Gunesh 7:2. Bands "Litеsоund" and "Po Glazam" were mostly disregarded by the jury, because they allegedly did not match the format of the contest.

The European Radio for Belarus called Mikhail Finberg, the chairman of the jury, to find out why the experts had reportedly heated discussions.

Mikhail Finberg: “In principle, we were choosing between two contenders: Gunesh and Alyakhno. Seven experts voted for Alyakhno, with two votes again”.

Leanid Shyryn, another member of the jury, says they were unhappy about the both favorites:

“An artiste of his class could take false notes when singing alive. This is a common thing and can be observed with many singers. But yesterday Ruslan sang worse than normally”.

Gunesh had a more or less good vocal performance, but her image was boring.

Leanid Shyryn: “She had a very monotonous number”.

By the way, Gunesh voiced what he thought about the winner in front of the journalists. She said:

“Ruslan, I respect you as a person but I want to ask you. I have heard your final song for several times. I have an absolute ear. Tell me: why do you always take false notes?”

According to Mikhail Finberg, two other pretenders -- Litesound and Po Glazamа were not even considered by the jury on the grounds that they allegedly did not match the format. However, towards the end of the interview Finberg admitted that both Ruslan and Gunesh were not comletely fit for the European contest.

Leanid Shyryn was equally disappointed:

“It happened often that an artiste did not perform very well like our singers, but the song would be noticed. In the view of the jury, none of the contenders had such a song. Frankly speaking, I yesterday was more disappointed with the singers than with the work of the jury”.

It seems that Belarus has neither a singer nor a song for the Eurovision'2008 contest.
