European Choice Congree to be held a day earlier than planned

The Minsk city government has rejected a request by the organizers to stage "a European Choice Congress" at the MAZ Palace of Culture on June 21, opposition politician Mikola Statkevich, an organizer, told ERB.   He said that the organizers arranged with the Belarusian Popular Front (BPF) to use the hall that the party had booked for its convention scheduled for June 20. "They will hold the convention faster and the European Choice Congress will start at 3p.m. on June 20," Statkevich said.

He said that between 700 and 800 delegates are expected to take part. Bids for opposition presidential nomination may be announced during the event.
