EU reminds Belarus about human rights

It is said in the special resolution of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers adopted on Monday. The EU priorities for International Human Rights Forums are dedicated to another session of the UN Human Rights Council, interfax.by notes.

The document highlights the anxiety caused by the human rights situation in a number of states, especially Syria. The situation in this country is “the most critical humanitarian crisis in modern history”.

The EU also urged the international society to pay attention to “serious and systematic human rights violations” in North Korea and investigate them. The document also mentioned the disturbing human rights situation in Belarus, Iran, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Central African Republic, South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo.  

The Council of the EU intends to demand “an immediate and full acquittal of all political prisoners in Belarus” in the UN.
