‘Elections’ in DPR and LPR end in Donets Basin

The elections are senseless, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said a few days ago.

The current leader of separatists, Alexander Zakharchenko has scored 70% of the vote in Donets. Igor Plotnitski is leading in Lugansk. He has been heading LPR separatists since recently.

The pseudo-elections are only escalating the conflict, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said. The Ukrainian security Service has started a criminal case for conducting illegal elections in self-declared Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, BBC reports.

People were voting while military equipment was actively crossing the Russian border, Ukrainian authorities reported.
