Detained youth activists released

The former members of the unregistered Union of Belarusian Students have been released from a police custody. Fingerprints and photo and video images of the detainees were taken at the Minsk district police department. Around 30 youth activists were arrested yesterday, when police raided a private house near the capital Minsk. The youth said they gathered to celebrate a birthday anniversary of one of the friends.

Police and KGB agents searched the house on the pretext that illegal liquer and drugs had been stored in the building, but found nothing. Nevertheless, all the young men were taken to a police custody, where they had to stay till late Saturday night.
