CHL explains disqualification of Lukashenka's ice hockey team

It was stated in the report that the initiator of disqualification of Alyaksandr Lukashenka's ice hockey team at the 2nd All-Russian Amateur Ice Hockey Festival had been the Deputy Chairman of the "GasProm" administration, President of the CHL Alexander Medvedev (he used to play for the "Nevski Legion").

The press-release called "Belarusian professionals try to win an amateur contest" states that there had been 10 players in the Belarusian team who used to play for professional clubs, and this is a violation of the festival's regulations.

They suggested that the Belarusian delegation should correct the situation but the latter allegedly refused. Therefore, the semi-final game between the Belarusians and the "Nevski Legion" didn't happen.

BelaPAN notes that the CHL failed to explain why they had questions to Lukashenka's team only after the previous round of the tournament had been over.
