Chernobyl March demonstration to proceed to remote Bangalore Square

The Minsk City Council today allowed the traditional Chernobyl tragedy anniversary march to proceed from the Academy of Sciences to the Bangalore Square on April 26. Demonstrators are invited to gather at 1800 on April 26, according to a protocol which the opposition agreed on today, reports  Belapan. The organizers initially planned to march towards the October Square in front of the presidential administration. But they said during a news conference on April 19 that they would agree to a compromise.

They plan to lay flowers to the Chernobyl victims' memorial and pray. No political rallies are expected.
