Central Election Commission has no idea of transparent polling boxes

The Central Election Commission recommended the local polling stations to put transparent ballot boxes, but it does not control its recommendations, Central Election Commission secretary Mikalai Lazavik told the European Radio for Belarus. Lazavik: “As far as I know there are transparent boxes in the Academy of Management and the Belarus State University of Informatics and Radio-electronics. But we have not gathered this information deliberately”.

He said that no chairman of a local commission called him to boast that he or she put transparent ballot boxes because of his or Lidziya Yarmoshyna's (the chairwoman of the Central Election Commission) recommendations.

Early voting for the seats in local councils began in Belarus today at 10 a.m..
