CEC's Svyatlana Khinevich murder suspect in custody
Minsk City Investigatory Committee's spokesman Alyaksandr Herasimau says a 35-year-old male Minsker has been detained in connection with the murder.
BelaPAN quotes him as saying that the suspect in Central Electionc Commission member's murder is still in hospital under police guard. The suspect is yet to face charges after he undergoes comprehensive psychological and psychiatric tests.
Svyatlana Khinevich's body with many incised wounds was found on August 4. The investigator says it was a domestic murder, not connected with the victim's professional and civil activities. Svyatlana Khinevich was not only a member Central Elections Commission. She also worked as deputy head of human resources department at the Minsk-based liquor factory Krystal.
The suspect is a young man with no prior convictions. He lived in the same house with the victim. The man is a drug addict. He was found at his place of residence unconscious, with many incised wounds. The investigators believe he was trying to commit suicide.
