1. Name/ Patronymic/Last Name — Mikalai Dzmitryevich Ulahovich

 

2. Birthplace – Minsk. My parents worked at the tractor plant and got acquainted there. I was born in Stralkovaya Street. It still exists.

 

3. Age – I turned 64 on August 21.

 

4. Height, weight – My height has decreased a bit. It used to be 183 cm, now it is 182. My weight is 105 kilos.

 

5. Family status (children, grandchildren) – My wife is a pensioner now. She worked as an accountant in a building trust. This is hard work. My son is a Master of Arts, he defended his thesis at the age of 28. He worked as an associate professor in the Academy of Administration. He is a father of three – they are my grandchildren. A girl, a boy and another girl.

6. Nickname (in childhood and maybe even now) — I have never had a nickname. People respected me even when I was a cadet. They called me Dzmitrych.

 

7. Spoken languages – I studied at a Belarusian school for five years. But I am ashamed of speaking Belarusian because you have to think in Belarusian to speak it. I studied many languages… But you cannot say that you know them even if you studied them. I can only speak Russian fluently.

8. Education – Simferopol Higher Military College (1974), Ivanono State University (1984), Volgograd Engineering Institute (1992).

9. Favourite/ most detested school/university subject – I detested methodology most of all. The methodology of school teaching. You had to know everything by heart. I still cannot understand why. The most complicated subject was our government and President’s decrees and orders. I wrote a report on the second space velocity once. I had a lot of favourite subjects; all of them were engineering sciences. I loved hydraulics and the study of the strength of materials.

11. Annual income– Br240 million.

 

12. Most expensive purchase of the year – I have not bought anything for a long time. But I did buy something. It was a costume! I paid 5 millions.

 

13. Trips abroad last year – I haven’t been travelling for a long time. My wife is ill. I can only leave for a day or two.

 

14. WatchSeiko. I have had it for many years, this is a good Japanese watch and I do not have any problems with it.

15. Car – I have one. But I have not driven it for a long time. I use my son’s car and he gives me a lift when I need it. He has a Mitsubishi Gallant.

16. Where did you spent your last holidays – Nowhere. I used to visit my wife’s home town. She is from Simferopol.

17. Favourite book/ Last book read – I haven’t read anything for a long time. The librarian used to turn me out of the library starting from the fifth form. I wanted to read Lenin and Stalin back then. My favourite writer is Sergei Lutsenski. He is a Crimean seascape writer.

18. Top-3 favourite films and last film watched – I love films about officers. I like White Sun of the Desert.

19. Favourite music. I like classical music.

 

20. Favourite sport. I used to head the Belarusian Karate Federation for several years. I was a candidate master of samba, basketball and volleyball. But I haven’t played for a long time. I just like when our sportsmen win.

21. Favourite dish and recipe – I like everything so it is hard to choose.

 

22. Good habit – I love my family if it can be called a habit.

 

23. Bad habit – I used to be a smoker. But I have quit.

 

24. Favourite political quotation – I cannot quote it. But I do have idols. The first one is Aleksei Kosygin, He could have prevented the collapse of the Soviet Union. Stolypin. My attitude to Putin? He is a force that is holding Russia now. He is paving a new a new way for himself.

25. Who does Crimea belong to? — My wife’s relatives live there. I know Aksyonov well, he graduated from our college. He is younger than me. I think that Putin has done a great job to annex Crimea. It is his best achievement. I am hoping that Ukraine will return to out trinity. Maybe it will happen in some other way, but it will happen.

 

26. How many times a person can be elected President? – I cannot tell you. One term should be 4, 5 or 10 years. But we know that the incumbent President is going to win because he has the administrative resource. On the other hand, we have those national patriots, I do not understand it. I cannot answer this question.

 

27. Who did you vote for at the last election? Of course, I voted for Alyaksandr Ryhoravich Lukashenka.

 

28. Your first presidential decree – I will dissolve the government.

 

29. You first presidential visit – I will go to Russia. Even if I am invited to the USA first, I will pay my first visit to Russia.

30. Campaign motto – For peace and quiet and order.
