Human remains were found during road expansion works in the Karl Liebknecht street in Minsk. Locals and journalists managed to take pictures of skulls, bones, and crosses.

On May 13, at noon, there were no bones: they had been removed. Only a gravestone was visible. Work was carried out actively, several trucks were working to clear the site. As buildress told Euroradio, they did come across bones and tombstones. But the project had been approved by the city authorities, so the work continues.

"The first time I heard about this is from you, said person from the organization " Gordorstroy" who ordered the work. - But if it really is the case, the bones must be passed to specialists."

According to eyewitnesses, bones and crosses from the construction site were taken to a landfill.

In the 19th century, there was a Lutheran cemetery at the site of the park, where work is underway. Information about them was available before the construction start, as they can be found on the historical and design maps. The Minsk City Executive Committee has not yet responded to the question how a construction project like that could have been approved. Now the authorities want to expand the Liebknecht street in order to relieve the Dzyarzhynski Avenue.

Under the rules issued by the Ministry of Housing, the old cemeteries can only be tended to and organized as green spaces.
