Last week, activists of the local civil organization ‘Dziedzic’ collected signatures in support of the Bologna Process. They believe the Bologna Process can help improve the quality of the higher education in Belarus.

The activists went to collect signatures near the university and the dormitories. They collected one thousand signatures and have already sent them to the Ministry of Education.

However, the university administration was not happy. Students reported that social pedagogue from one of the dormitories Halina Karabchuk told them that the signature collection ‘was not authorized’ and the Bologna Process was 'a protest against the existing education system.'

The administration gathered students for a meeting but nobody was threatened.

“They kept saying things like ‘you must realize what you are signing’ when people could not clearly explain why they had signed. There was not much criticism, all the stir had happened earlier. Anyway, it is not clear why they gathered us and said this since we are all adults and we can sign whatever we like,” students said.
