Bikers have brought the torch of 2019 European Games to Belarus. The torch was lit in Rome. It has been brought to eight European countries so far. The group of bikers arrived in Brest on May 12. The torch will remain in Brest on Monday and the torch relay will continue in Brest Region for a few more days (Kamyanets, The Białowieża Forest, Pinsk, Mikashevichy, Baranavichy, Kosava).

Olympic champion and Brest inhabitant Yuliya Nestsyarenka was the first person to accept the torch at the Belarusian-Polish border check-point, Belarus Today reports. She ran for the first 100 metres across the memorial complex Brest Hero Fortress. PM Ihar Petryshenka attended the ceremony. “We will make these games cordial, they will be for sportsmen,” he promised in his speech.
