Belarusian V.I.P.’s do not trust domestic producers

Andrei Tur will buy Belarusian goods only if he likes the conditions of the guarantee. Іna Afanasyeva – only if the prices are much lower than the prices for foreign goods. Alyaksandr Kulinkovich will never buy any Belarusian technical equipment. Victar Martsinovich says he has made two mistakes - he bought an “Atlant” and a “Gefest”. Alyaksandr Fyaduta advises that the State Control Committee should better work with producers instead of advertising domestic goods.
The head of the State Control Committee Zyanon Lomats started advertising domestic goods again during the recent meeting dedicated to the issue of import replacement. He said that our refrigerators, TV-sets and monitors were as good as foreign ones. However, people do not want to buy them for some reason. And the goods can be found in warehouses instead of our flats. ERB has decided to ask famous people what technical equipment they use and in what case they would replace foreign goods with domestic ones.

The deputy Minister of Economy Andrei Tur told ERB that he had an equal amount of foreign and domestic household appliances at home. However, he would agree to replace all of them with Belarusian goods only if he liked the conditions of the guarantee.

Andrei Tur: “There are a lot of different are appearing regularly. So it depends. However, you should always consider the conditions of the guarantee when buying a new device”.

A singer Ina Afanasyeva has only one domestic appliance - a refrigerator “Atlant”. However, she says that she likes goods produced in Belarus nowadays. She likes their quality and design. But she does not like the cost. That is why she is taking her time before buying Belarusian goods. Especially non-durable goods.

Іna Afanasyeva: “I entered a big shop not long ago. I needed to get some footwear. You know, I did believe that out footwear would cost much less because the quality and the production of our goods differed from the quality of Italian footwear. But it turned out that the prices for our footwear in our shops were very high. You could buy Italian shoes at the same price and they would have a comfortable last and a better design.  I was surprised when I saw all those strange-looking black boots in a big pile costing 200 dollars”.

The singer says that our producers have to follow the example of foreign producers not only when it comes to the price, they should improve the quality.

The opinion of the leader of “Neuro Dubel” Alyaksandr Kulinkovich is quite the opposite. He has no domestic household appliances and the quality of Belarusian goods gives rise to the musician’s doubts.

Alyaksandr Kullіnkovіch: “Belarusian goods are awkward and unpractical, they are not made for people, nobody knows who they are made for”.

He is not satisfied with the cost of Belarusian goods either. He says that he can buy a high-quality European TV-set at the same price as a “Horizont”.

Alyaksandr Kulіnkovіch: “Why should I buy low-quality Belarusian goods if I can buy European and Japanese goods at the same price and even cheaper. I do not understand it, why? I cannot understand people buying “Horizonts”.

The deputy editor-in-chief of “Belhazeta” Victar Martsinovich confessed to ERB that he made two big mistakes – bought a Brest gas-stove “Gefest” and a refrigerator “Atlant”. Then he announced his flat a zone free from domestic goods.

Vіkcar Martsіnovіch: “I made a mistake when I bought a Brest gas-stove “Gefest”. The lever opening it broke down 6 months later. So I have been praising Belarusian goods for 4.5 years every time I approached the gas-stove. The other mistake was buying an “Atlant”. It is okay but after the purchase of the gas-stove I started thinking I should have bought some Indesit. Now my flat is a zone free from Belarusian goods”.

The journalist wonders why domestic goods cost more than foreign goods that should be “replaced”. That is why he says he does not play the game “Let’s support domestic producers in spite of all!”.

A famous political scientist got disappointed in Belarusian goods due to a refrigerator “Atlant”.

Alyaksandr Fyaduta: “I have a Belarusian refrigerator and I regret I agreed with my wife and we bought it. It is bad and it is working badly”.

He thinks that the state should work with producers to make domestic goods better and cheaper in comparison with foreign ones instead of looking for ways of making people buy them.

Alyaksandr Fyaduta: “It does not depend on Zyanon Lomats. It depends on the enterprise’s activities. If ravioli are imported from Saint Petersburg and mushrooms are imported from Tula or Kostroma – they have to work to avoid this absurd. The ravioli are imported but they are cheaper and better than Belarusian ravioli! Let them work with producers. They do not need to persuade me into buying Belarusian goods – I will buy them if they are good enough”.
