Belarusian telephone communication is cheapest in post-Soviet territory

“Beltelecam” has conducted a survey of telecommunication services in post-Soviet countries in June. It turned out that Belarusian telephone communication within the country was cheaper that in all other post-Soviet states. The head of the information and communication group of “Beltelecam” Alyaksey Fedarenchyk informed the European Radio for Belarus about it.

Fedarenchyk: “Home or work fixed line phone is still widely available in comparison with other countries. The user charge is 1600 BRB in Belarus while a minute of talk costs a bit more than 8 BRB”.

For example, the user charge in Russia is 10315 BRB, in Ukraine and Estonia it is almost 9000 BRB. A minute of talk costs 52.9 BRB. Kazakhs pay 8941 BRB per months, Moldavians – 4222 and 16.8 BRB per minute of local connection.

There is no fixed user charge in Latvia but a minute of connection costs 96.7 BRB. “Beltelecam” counted how much money Belarusians spend for talks over a fixed line phone.

Fedarenchyk: “An average Belarusian spends about 15 thousand BRB for local connection including calls to other Belarusian cities”.

By the way, trunk-line connection is the cheapest in Belarus too: 20 BRB per minute within a region, 41 BRB – within the country. In Russia it will cost from 196 to 354 BRB, in Moldova – 74 BRB regardless of the city’s location, In Latvia – 291; in Ukraine – from 205 to 265 BRB per minute. At the same time, Belarusian international telephone communication is one of the most expensive in the former Soviet Union.
