'Belarusian Spring' culture festival to kick off in Kiev

The festival of Belarusian contemporary culture titled "Belarusian Spring" will take place in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev from March 22 through April 12.  The festival, organized for the second year, will include street performance, cinema premiers, flash-animations, a photo exhibition, the roundtable meetings of media managers, a concert of ethnic bands and a joint Belarusian-Ukrainian literature session.

A submarine boat with Belarus's national colors -- white-red-white -- has become the festival's logo. This image has been borrowed from a song by N.R.M, the legend of the Belarusian rock music.

Organizers stress that the Belarusian Spring'2008 is a very important ecent, because it goes to the depths of the Belarusian culture, hidden under a thick layer of cliche and stereotypes, writes Nasha Niva newspaper.
